Truelove's Gutter
New Album - Out 21st September 2009
Richard Hawley's sixth studio album, Truelove's Gutter, is set to be released on Mute on 21st September. Recorded in Hawley's hometown of Sheffield at Yellow Arch studios, Truelove's Gutter is a testament to his intoxicating song writing talents with eight new classic compositions. Arrangements on Truelove's Gutter occasionally feature some truly uncommon instrumentation, such as the megabass waterphone and crystal baschet. "I use a load of odd sounds on this album that are not heard on many other records," says Richard. "The sounds in my head on a lot of the tracks - I didn't even know what they were called!" Eccentric instruments notwithstanding, the lush but minimal production provides a haunting backdrop to Hawley's unique voice and allows him plenty of space for some outstandingly beautiful guitar solos. "I wanted it to be a listening experience from start to finish, where you couldn't just pause it and go off and watch Coronation Street or whatever," explains Hawley. "Sonically, it flows. It's not jumping all over the place. It just has a mood that goes through the whole thing." Thematically his darkest work to date, Truelove's Gutter explores the idea of people or things that are broken in some way, and the fractured and damaged times in which we live, to which Hawley's lyrics give profound attestation. Live At The Devil's Arse  Highlights from Richard Hawley's magical Christmas show at the Devil's Arse, a cave in the Peak District, are now online.

Rockabilly Radio  Released on 14th July 2008 is the very special one sided 10" 'Rockabilly Radio'. Featuring Richard Hawley and the Feral Cats, this track featured in the UK horror film 'Flick', about the resurrection of a Teddy Boy from the 50's who returns from beyond the grave to find his teenage sweetheart and seek revenge for his death.

New Digital EP  The Lady's Bridge EP features the title track from Richard's latest album, plus live versions of The Sea Calls and Roll River Roll recorded at the now legendary Hawley Tyres and Exhausts gig in Sheffield. Also included on the EP is the new song Rockabilly Radio (from the film 'Flick') available for the first time.

In the song I'm not crossing over from one side to the other I'm actually in the middle and by the end I decide to cross the bridge because you have to make choices in life. Lady's Bridge released on 20th August 2007
Richard Hawley's eagerly awaited follow up to 2005's Coles Corner is out now, through Mute Records. Recorded in Richard's native Sheffield, at Yello Arch Studio earlier in the year, the album features recent single 'Tonight The Streets Are Ours' and ten new songs. The album was released in the US on 2nd October 2007.
